THRUST BEARING
Thrust bearings are a type of rolling-element bearing that can support axial loads, or forces that act along the axis of rotation. They are used in applications where high-speed rotation, low friction, and precise alignment are required, such as in turbines, compressors, pumps, and gearboxes. Thrust bearings consist of two rings, called races, and a set of balls or rollers that are sandwiched between them. The balls or rollers transmit the axial load from one race to the other, while allowing the races to rotate relative to each other.
